VACANCY FOR COUNCILLOR
There is currently a vacancy on the council and having been through the prescribed procedure, no election has been requested.
The vacancy will therefore now be filled by the co-option process at a meeting of the parish council.
Should anyone wish to be considered for the vacancy, they should apply in writing to the council by 31 October 2024 at the address above.
Section79(1) of the Local Government Act 1972 provides that, unless disqualified, a person is qualified to be co-opted as a local councillor if they are over 18 yrs old, a qualifying Commonwealth citizen or a Euronational on the day of their selection and:
a. Be registered on the electoral role for Dorrington
Or
b. Has for 12 months occupied as a tenant or owner, any land or other premises in the area of Dorrington
or
c. Has for 12 month or more has a principle place of work in the Dorrington area.
or
d. Has for 12 months of more resided either in the parish, or community, or within 3 miles of Dorrington.
