TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR THE PLANNINMG SUB-COMMITTEE
DORRINGTON PARISH COUNCIL
1. Membership of the Planning Sub-committee
a. The sub-committee shall comprise three members of the Parish Council. To be 
confirmed every year at the Annual Meeting of the Parish Council.
b. Any changes in membership of the sub-committee following the Annual Meeting of 
the Parish Council meeting shall be subject to approval at the next Parish Council
c. The quorum of the sub-committee shall be two of the appointed members.
2. Chairman
The chairperson of the sub-committee shall be determined at the Annual Meeting of the 
Parish Council.
3. Conduct of Meetings
All meetings of the subcommittee will be convened to respond to planning applications 
received.
4. Powers of the Planning Sub-committee
The planning sub-committee shall be empowered to:
a. To act on behalf of the parish council in respect of any planning issues and to:
- Support or object to planning applications on the parish Council’s behalf as 
appropriate.
- Submit comments and recommendations regarding planning applications to the 
District Council on the Parish Council’s behalf via the clerk if appropriate.
b. At the discretion of the sub-committee to raise any planning matters with Full Parish 
Council where appropriate.
c. To respond on the Parish Council’s behalf to consultations regarding planning issues 
which have any impact on planning.
 5 Responsibilities and Areas of Operation of the Planning Sub-committee
a. To consider planning applications received in respect to properties and 
development in the Dorrington Area, and to:
- Decide whether to support or object on the: Parish Council’s behalf.
- Submit comments and recommendations on the Parish Council’s behalf to the 
Planning Authority at North Kesteven District Council as required.
b. To study relevant plans, visit relevant site and consider any comments from
members of the public before deciding whether to submit comments or 
recommendations of support or objection.
c. To consider consultations and correspondence regarding planning issues which
may have an impact on planning in the locality and to respond on the Parish 
Councils behalf as appropriate.
d. To take notes of decision notices in respect of planning applications received from 
North Kesteven District Council.
e. To take note of any new legislation or regulations, changes in policy or other 
developments affecting the planning process, and any briefings received, and to 
participate in any relevant taring as appropriate.
f. To report back to the Parish Council at the next available meeting any planning 
decisions the sub-committee has made of their behalf.
g. If necessary following appraisal of a planning application the sub-committee feels 
that the application should be considered by the full council request the chairman 
to call a meeting to enable the council to consider the application and take 
appropriate action in supporting or objecting to the Planning Authority of North 
Kesteven District Council.
