MINUTES OF THE DORRINGTON PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
Monday 13 July 2026
Present; Cllr Gray (Chair) (TG), Cllrs Drury (BD), Unwin (SU), Hayes (JH), Bell (PB)and Darby (PD)

In Attendance: Gerald Garton, Clerk and Proper Office
Public Forum: Four members of the public from the Ashby-de-la-Launde parish attended to raise concerns of the vegetation on the B1188 and excessive speed on the B1188. TG advised using Fixmystreet for vegetation and to bring speeding to the attention of the police. They also raised inoperative footpath lighting and the PCC hedge.
Cllr Kendrick reported on public funding, volunteer parish scheme. PB raised the public concerns on B1188 speeding and vegetation adjacent footpath leading to church, which he endorsed. Cllr Kendrick explained the process of setting up of community speed watch.

4. Notes of previous meeting held on 11 May 2026: 028/26: These were proposed by PB and seconded by JH that the notes be accepted as a true record. Signed by the Chairman.
5. Planning: 029/26: - 25/1529/FUL 121 Main Street Decision notice.
Planning sub-committee had no plannings to discuss although there were some questions relating to the bungalow at the rear of the property.
6 Finance: 030/26: The Clerk had circulated the reconciliation prior
Since last meeting the following amounts including VAT were approved:
Clerk’s salary £ 503.25
HMRC £ 125.00
Chapel rent £ 30.00
LALC training costs £ 48.00
Grass cutting £ 583.20
Tree maintenance £ 1464.00
Since the last meeting the following amounts had been received:
Interest £74.41
The Bank Balance is currently £25301.30 after unpresented cheques cleared.
At present we have debtors of £30.00 chapel rent and clerk’s expenses of £115.68 and grass cutting £291.60.
The audit has been completed and approved
7 Playground; 031/26: - The monthly inspections have been undertaken. The chair of the playing field sub-committee report that the play equipment inspection document has been produced by TG, and it is suggested equipment inspections occur every month and the subsequent report sent electronically to the clerk. There is a requirement to fit bird deterrent spikes to the swing. Councillors to ascertain number required and the clerk to order. Some of the equipment requires washing. TG reported that the Tom’s Garden gate post is loose and one of the fitness dampers needs adjusting and the painting of the basketball hoop. PB to investigate supply of paint.
8 Highway issues: 032/26: - No comments
9 The Waver: 033/26: - Discussion took place regarding apply for vacant possession and subsequent land registry, cost of maintenance and development. It was unanimously agreed that pending any further investigations that in the interim this remains as a valued village amenity in its present status.
10 Bus shelter: 034/26: – The county council have now assumed responsibility for the provision of a new shelter to the west of B1188, for which the council is appreciative.
11 Tree – Playgarth ash tree: 035/26: - It was agreed that the tree be left to decay to provide wildlife habitat.
12 Goal post nets: 036/26: - Nets were supplied with new goal post but were not installed at the time and are currently store by BD. It was agreed to install the nets to improve the amenity. To be undertaken by councillors.
13 Playgarth fence line repair: 037/26: It has been established that the fence does not belong to the parish council so no further action deemed necessary. It will be monitored during playground inspections to ensure no further decay.
14 Main Street parking near B1188 junction: 038/26: Clerk to write to Homefromhome drawing attention to the parking on Main Street. Clerk to draw attention of the road and footpath boundaries adjacent to the shop at the B1188 junction to Cllr Kendrick for highways department attention.
15 Approved mileage rate: 039/26: LALC have advised that from 1.2 26 for all official travel that the HMRC approved milage rate within tax thresholds should be increased and backdated to 55p per mile car travel and 20p per mile bicycle travel. New rate approved.
16 Councillor Training: 040/26: TG has undertaken chairman training and encouraged all councillors to attend and referred them to the LALC newsletter
17 Lincolnshire Folk Tales: 041/26: This agenda item was moved to before item 5 to accommodate Prof Waterman. Presentation by folk tale compiler Professor Rory Waterman. He explained the web site and contact details for the project. The project has ended but there is an opportunity to supplement it, and he will be submitting an application, with this council endorsement, for additional funding. He would like a letter of support from the parish council which the council unanimously supports. In the future if funding successful, there will be signage with QR code to enable public to engage with story teller.
DB left the meeting at this point.
18 Defibrillator site check rota: 042/26: Currently this is undertaken by JH. No volunteered presented themselves so JH stated she is happy to continue but will show TG what is entailed to provide cover if necessary.
19 Correspondence: 043/26: -LALC webmaster support has 143 minutes in credit. NKDC redaction of parish councillor’s home addresses on public register

There being no further business the Chairman declared the meeting closed at 21.40
