MINUTES OF THE DORRINGTON PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
Monday 14 July 2025
Present; Cllrs Drury (Chair), Cllrs Unwin, Newton, and Darby
In Attendance: Gerald Garton, Clerk and Proper Office
Public Forum: None present
1. Chairperson's welcome: 028/25: The Chairman welcomed everyone to the meeting.
2. Apologies and reasons for absence: 029/25: Cllr Bell due to ill health, Cllr Hayes and Cllr Kendrick.
3. Declarations of interest in agenda items: 030/25: None
4. Notes of previous meeting held on 12 May 2025: 031/25: These were proposed by PD and seconded by SU that the notes be accepted as a true record. Signed by the Chairman.
5. Planning: 032/25: - 25/0685/FUL Kirk House fence and 25/0439/FUL shop air conditioning and staircase.
Report by chair of planning committee. No comments.
6. Finance: 033/25: The Clerk had circulated the reconciliation prior to the meeting.
External audit submitted and all required documents on web page
Since last meeting the following amounts paid including VAT were approved:
Bank charges £ 10.80
Grass cutting £ 812.39
PCC grant £ 600.00
Insurance £ 513.64
Rent £ 30.00
Clerk’s salary £ 405.15
HMRC £ 101.20
Defibrillator £ 162.00
Ink and Toner £ 70.00
Since last meeting the following amounts have been received:
HMRC VAT refund £ 2412.15
Interest £ 82.82
The Bank Balance is currently £24287.23 after unpresented cheques cleared
7. Regeneration of play areas: 034/25: – Playground equipment monthly inspection to be carried out by TN.
RoSPA report is planned for August.
8. Highway Issues: 035/25: - Any issues can be reported on Fixmystreet. Some properties on Main Street have hedges intruding on the public footpath, TN to inform clerk of house numbers so a letter can be sent to residents.
9. Vacancy: 036/25: – A candidate has come forward and he will attend next meeting.
10. Open Gardens 2026 037/25: - There has been some positive comments, and it was agreed to pick a date for the event and to organise a planning public meeting.
11. Waver Boundary 038/25: - The attempt to register it with NKDC as a community asset has failed because there is no registered owner. The parish council view it as an open space and looking at ways to improve it for the community. The land registry title number LL361628 defines the current over ship of land adjacent to the Waver.
12. Waver footpath 039/25: - Decided at present not viable.
13. Speed limit reduction 040/25: - It was agreed that Cllr Kendrick be approached to see if the speed limit from the Playgarth to the existing eastern 30mph be reduced to 20mph to assist in pedestrian safety.
14. Shop vehicle access and footpath/highway boundary 041/25: - Concerns have been raised about parking and BD to discuss with shop proprietor.
15. Correspondence: 042/25: - None
16. Items for next agenda: 043/25: - Junior goalposts, new parish councillor, combination basketball/football unit.
